Student Athletes

The negative affects of society continue to hurt college students. With the growth of press, athletes begin to feel more important than other students.\

LSU’s Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Kenneth Miles thinks that student athletes are too commercialized which can build up arrogance. The cockyness of student athletes can affect their class work as well as relationships with teammates.

Another theory of Miles is that the athlete’s views on education may cause problems. Miles said that the way that people look at education needs to change. “In order to make changes happen I must be active,” Miles stated.

Miles stated that it all starts with him but will require change and cooperation from the student athletes. When asked what takes most of his time Miles said,”Ignorance requires most attention because of cockyness that builds up.”
