Mike the Tiger Habitat

Louisiana State University’s Horticulturalist Debra Coltharp spoke at a press conference in the Journalism Building Tuesday. She discussed the future additions to Mike the Tiger’s habitat.  

 

LSU plans to add bamboo and grass, which is more natural to most tigers species. The purpose of the new additions is to give more privacy to Mike as well as to give his habitat a more natural appearance.

 

Coltharp said the targeted completion date should be within the next few years. Even though Mike VI was recently diagnosed with an inoperable tumor on his face, there is still a possibility that he will see the new additions..
